Pre-Requisites:
- To avoid interruption, ensure to charge your mobile at least 50%.
- To recognize your mobile by PC, install OnePlus USB drivers:
- Before installing TWRP recovery, you must unlock the bootloader of your device.
- Enable USB debugging before going ahead.
- Also, enable OEM unlocking and Advance reboot mode from Developer options.
- Backup your contacts, apps, messages, call logs, notes, etc. for safety.
Steps to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 7 Pro:
Step 1: Download ADB and Fastboot.
Step 2: Install the ADB setup on your PC.
Step 3: Download the TWRP.img file.
Step 4: Copy this .img file to the location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (where you’ve installed the ADB and fastboot).
So you’ll have these files in the ADB and Fastboot folder:
Step 5: Using a USB data cable, connect OnePlus 7 Pro to your computer.
Step 6: Navigate to location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder, hold the Shift button and right mouse click on a space. You’ll see a list of options from which select the Open command window here option. This will launch the command prompt window as given below.
Note: If the following message pops up on your phone, press OK.
Step 7: Type the following command in the cmd window and press the enter key:
adb devices
As soon as you press the enter key, a message saying ‘List of devices attached’ along with some random numbers will appear. This will confirm the successful connection of your OnePlus 7 Pro with PC.
Note: If there is any connection problem, then simply install OnePlus USB drivers again.
Step 7: Now type the following command to boot your mobile into fastboot mode.
adb reboot bootloader
This will restart your OnePlus 7 Pro into fastboot mode as shown below.
Step 8: To confirm whether fastboot is functional or not, type the following command and hit the enter key:
fastboot devices
Some random numbers along with a ‘List of devices attached’ message will prove that fastboot is functional.
Step 9: Let’s install the TWRP recovery on OnePlus 7 Pro now. So type the following command and press enter:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
As you press enter, the TWRP recovery will be flashed on your OnePlus 7 Pro.
Steps to Boot OnePlus 7 Pro into TWRP recovery mode:
Step 1: Go to mobile settings.
Step 2: Open developer options and enable the Auto Reboot tab.
Step 3: Close everything and long-press the Power button.
Step 4: From the list of options, click on the Recovery option.
This will reboot your OnePlus 7 Pro into TWRP recovery mode.
