Prerequisites

• Rooting will void your device warranty.
• Charge your phone to at least 50%.
• Backup your important phone data and settings before going further.
• Moreover, backup EFS folder present in your phone’s system directory.
• Also, install the latest Samsung USB drivers on your PC.
• Enable the USB Debugging mode on your device.

• Download and extract the given file on PC. You’ll find these files on extracting:

• Neglect the tmax.dll and zlib.dll files. You are going to need only Odin software and the tar file.
• Hence, firstly switch off your S2 Skyrocket completely & boot into downloading mode.
• For that press and hold the Volume up + Volume Down key + Power button simultaneously until you see a warning message.
• Then press the Volume up button to continue. This will land you into downloading mode.

• On the Odin window, tick the PDA tab and select CF-Auto-Root-sghi727-sghi727-samsungsghi727.tar.md5 file from the extracted folder.
• Also, tick the Auto-Reboot and F.Resest Time options.
• Just select the Start button located on the Odin window to initiate the rooting process.
• Your phone will automatically reboot itself while going through the process.
• Do not remove the USB cable until the process completes.

• After successfully completing, the ID: COM section on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ below it.
• You can safely disconnect the phone now.
• If the process fails, then close the Odin tool. Remove and re-insert the battery from your device. Again go into downloading mode and repeat the entire process again.
• To confirm the root access, go to the apps list on your phone. An app named Superuser must have been installed on your phone. This will confirm that your device is properly rooted. This Superuser app is used to supervise all the applications requiring root access.

Steps to install CWM recovery on Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-i727

• Download both the above files in a specific folder on your PC.
• Firstly switch off your Galaxy S2 Skyrocket completely. You need to boot your device in downloading mode now.

• Make sure that the Auto-Reboot and F.Resest Time options present on the Odin window are checked.

• After completing everything as mentioned above, simply press the Start button located on the Odin window to initiate the CWM recovery flashing process.
• Your phone will automatically reboot itself while going through the process.

• Be patient until the installation of CWM recovery completes.
• It will hardly last up to 5 minutes.
• As soon as it completes, you’ll see the ID: COM section on the Odin window is turned green with the message ‘Pass’ below it.
• You can safely remove the phone from your PC now.

• Let’s boot into CWM recovery now. For that, power off your phone.
• Then boot into recovery mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume up + Volume down + Power button simultaneously until the recovery mode appears. You’ll notice that Clockworkmod Custom recovery is properly installed on your device.
• Now select the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ option followed by the ‘Wipe Cache partition’ option for wiping out the data & caches present onto your phone memory.
• You can restart your phone by selecting the ‘reboot system now’ option present on the recovery mode itself.

• After completing everything as mentioned above, just select the Start button to initiate the TWRP recovery flashing process. Your phone will automatically restart.
• The process will hardly last up to 5 minutes. As soon as it completes, the ID: COM section will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ below it.
• Let’s boot your device into TWRP recovery mode.
• To do so, press and hold the Volume up + Volume down + Power button simultaneously until the TWRP appears.
• Now select the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ option followed by the ‘Wipe Cache partition’ option for wiping out the data & caches present onto your phone memory.
• Restart the phone by selecting the ‘reboot system now’ option present on the recovery mode itself.
