Steps to update Galaxy Ace S5830 to Android 2.3.6 firmware
Step 1: After successfully downloading the Firmware package given above, extract it using Winrar on your PC.
Step 2: Next you need to switch off your Galaxy Ace completely and enter into downloading mode.
Step 3: For Ace, you can enter the downloading mode by holding the ‘Home Button (middle button) + Volume down key + Power Button’ simultaneously until the download mode appears.
Step 4: Keeping your device in downloading mode connect it to your PC using a USB cable.
Step 5: On PC, launch the ‘Odin Multi Downloader3_3.09‘ software. As soon as you open it, the ID: COM section in it will turn light blue. Also, an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that the connection between PC and phone is successful.
Step 6: Tick the Auto Reboot option and F.Reset option located on the Odin window. Do not tick or un-tick any other option.
Step 7: Now, tick against the ‘AP’ button and navigate to the tar.md5 file from the firmware package & select it (The firmware file will look something like S5830XWKTQ _S5830OXXKT4_FOP.tar.md5). Wait till Odin verifies the md5 hash. If it’s successful then there won’t be any warning message.
Step 8: After completing everything as mentioned above, start the process by clicking on the Start button located in the Odin window. You’ll notice that your phone automatically reboots itself while going through the process. Make sure that you don’t remove the USB cable until the process completes, as it may interrupt the process.
Step 9: The process will take a few minutes to complete. As soon as it completes, the ID: COM section on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ below it. This will confirm that you have properly flashed your Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 to Official Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XWKTQ firmware. You can now disconnect your device by safely removing the USB cable.
Note: If the process fails if Odin gets stuck or in case your device gets boot loops, then close the Odin window, remove the battery from your Galaxy Ace, and re-insert it. Again go into downloading mode and follow the same procedure as given above.
Step 10: After completing the process, boot your device into recovery mode by holding the Home button (Middle button) and Power button simultaneously until the recovery mode appears.
Note: Touch will not work here in recovery mode. So all you need to do is use the Volume Up and Volume Down keys for navigation and the Home button (Middle button) for selection.
Step 11: On the recovery mode, navigate to the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ option followed by the ‘Wipe Cache partition’ option & select them to clear all the data and caches from your phone memory.
Step 12: Then go back to the main menu of recovery mode and select the ‘reboot system now’ option to restart your device.

my mobile samsung galaxy ace s5830i
not going to download mode while press home+vol. dwn+power button help me what can i do
If your keys aren’t working then install Terminal emulator app & enter these commands in it:
$ su
#reboot download
This will directly land you into download mode..
Refer this guide for official firmware on S5830i…
$su
su:not found
First root your phone & then try implementing those commands…
I want to downgrade from ICS to original Gingerbread. After following all these steps of installing original version, what will happen to my IMEI and EFS, will they remain there or they will also gets wiped out, if so then what is the method of backup and restore for these two things, please clear this doubts, thanks
For Ace, EFS file is placed deep inside Radio (aka modem). So its very rare that the efs will get affected..Feel free to flash the firmware..No damage will happen
Thanks Abhijeet, I’ll try and let you know,
My phone is not recognized by the pc both in download mode and normal mode, however i installed the USB drivers.. Pls help..
Install these drivers on PC:
1.Windows 32 bit (x86) Drivers.
2.Windows 64 bit (x64) Drivers.
(Though the Drivers are mentioned for Galaxy S, they can still be used for any Galaxy Device).
my phone is on a bootloop for months…. guess ill try this out, ill tell you if it works, though i have problems with the download mode steps
it did work but my language isn’t available in the phone which is Arabic i unbricked it alright but that’s the only problem, if you could find me the appropriate rom i’d appreciate it
i chnged my rom by using recovery method nd now phone is not starting when started it start blinking … can it be fix by that method …

thanx a lot.. now again i have my original phone…… 🙂 :)…seriously thanku sooooo much…
Hey Abhijeet
When I restart my Ace in downloading, the screen only shows “Downloading” in yellow font and it does not look the way it appears in your tutorial. It may be a problem because my Windows 8.1 flashes an error saying the “device is not recognized” . Since it does not recognize my phone, I cannot go any further. Normally, Windows 8.1 accepts the device without any error. Am I doing something wrong? I already have Kies installed on my PC. So I assume I have all the latest drivers too on the computer. Or do I need any special drivers to make Windows 8.1 recognize my Ace in downloading mode as well?
Its the same downloading mode..You may freely proceed further..
Thanx Abhijeet. But you missed the point of Windows 8.1 refusing to recognizing the phone as soon as it is put in downloading mode. Samsung drivers for the phone seem to be installed, but unless PC accepts the cell in download mode, the upgradation is not possible.
Thanx Again
Munir

Yeah you’ve correctly entered the download mode..Just re-install the mobile drivers on PC and use different USB ports..
can you please tell how to remove my samsung account from my phone i dont know its password because in the time of activation the samsung app takes the wrong mail i dont know why. now i want to reset my phone is their any other way if yes than please mail me.
Go to Settings->Accounts and remove the account you want..
i cant remove the account because it needs a password of the account which i don’t have. As i say the phone had taken a wrong email. They made a wrong spelling and now that email doesn’t exit.
Boot into recovery and wipe data/cache
